Now for the worst Korean product I tested in 2017! Strangely enough, a product from Klairs, a brand I otherwise love!
Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil has been surprisingly highly rated by others. Many giving this product 5/5 in online reviews. Often with the argument that it’s suitable for their sensitive skin and doesn’t cause break outs or acne. For me, it’s a fail for Klairs! I personally just don’t understand Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil. I was sooo looking forward to testing this, what I thought was a lovely cleansing oil. But I’ve been struggling for weeks now to make it work, because I want so badly to like it … But honestly I hate it, and just the thought of having to use the whole bottle makes me exhausted. Well, I don’t want to throw away either right!
OK so what’s the problem with Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil you wonder? The product has the most wonderful scent of SPA and aromatherapy like many other of Klairs’s amazing products. The oil is thick and effectively melts away makeup and impurities applying the product on dry skin. So far so good! The problems start as soon as you add water …
Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil appears to emolliate looking at it, but it doesn’t feel like it really does – at all. Quite the opposite actually, it rather feels like the oil is getting fattier and greasier adding water. It sticks to the skin! The oil simply doesn’t wash off. You can easily panic if you applied a lot of cleansing oil around your eyes. The makeup gets smeared with the oil and it’s impossible to get rid of everything. And you can hardly even open your eyes. The image above shows me using 2 pumps of Klairs cleansing oil, massaging it onto dry skin and then rinsing 3 times with luke warm water. As you can see there’s a lot of makeup left, and the skin still feels very fatty at this point.
I’ve tried to rinse with cool water, lukewarm water and warm water. I’ve used a lot of water. And rubbed my face. I’ve tried rinsing and rinsing and rinsing at least 5-6 times trying to remove Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil. The product works better if you go straight in with a foaming water-based cleanser, which then cleans out the oil itself plus the leftover makeup. But it’s not supposed to be like this I feel!
Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil just doesn’t work for me! This is not what I had expected out of a cleansing oil, and especially not one that claims to deeply cleans the pores! Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil is unfortunately the product I liked the least in 2017 and I will definitely not recommend this product to anyone. Sorry Klairs! This is a fail for me.
