Korean pore strips targeting pores & blackheads

Today is all about Korean pore strips. A kind of sticker that pulls blackheads and impurities from the skin. But do they really work?

I get a lot of questions from you guys asking about Korean products targeting enlarged pores and blackheads. Some of us simply have larger and more prominent looking pores than others. But, I think the best way to go is to combine tearing scrub masks with purifying clay masks and chemical peels. And also to use skin care products with acids such as BHA to dissolve impurities and clogged pores. This, in combination with pore minimizing skin care products, should provide the maximum effect.

Then we also have these pore strips / nose strips type thing. A kind of a quick fix working similar to a sticker that literally pulls away blackheads and impurities from the skin in a minute. Painful yes, but hopefully providing quick results! But do these pore strips and nose packs really work? I have tested a couple of different ones from Korea that I’m going to tell you all about today.

Before you go and test nose strips, there are a few things to consider. A good tip is to always open up the pores properly before treatment to maximize the result. Take a hot shower or a long bath, or steam your face with hot water over the sink for 5-10 minutes before applying. Make sure to soak the skin everywhere so that the “sticker” sets properly. A nose strip usually sticks to the skin the second you apply it, which means that you only have one chance to place the mask correctly. Allow it to dry and stiffen for about 10-15 minutes, then remove the mask from the treated area. It can be very painful to pull off nose strips from the skin I think, but hopefully you remove a lot of blackheads as well. Do not forget to close the pores after treatment, eg with a toner or pore minimizing product. Below some of the nose strips I have used myself with various results.

Tonymoly Tako Pore One Shot Nose Pack

Review Tonymoly Tako Pore One Shot Nose Pack from Korea Korean Skin Care Pores blackheads sebum K-Beauty Blog Europe

I really like the bubbling clay mask in this line called the Tonymoly Tako Pore Bubble Pore Pack. But the nose mask was unfortunately not the best I’ve tried. The packaging is very cute though. The mask doesn’t smell good or bad, and it’s just a faint scent. Apply the mask as a sticker on damp skin and let the mask dry. Tonymoly Tako Pore One Shot Nose Pack is targeting an overproduction of sebum, cleansing out and minimizing pores. Contains, among other things, taurine and Dead Sea salt. The mask sticks really well to the skin. However, Tonymoly Tako Pore One Shot Nose Pack really hurts to pull away from the skin. And I don’t think that it removed enough blackheads at all. Be sure to open up the pores and soak the skin thoroughly before applying this mask for best results. I like that this mask is treating the entire T-zone. However, the pain is real and not for sensitive skin types. See my full review here. Tonymoly Tako Pore One Shot Nose Pack was rated 3/5 in my review.

Holika Holika Pig Nose Clear Blackhead 3-Step Kit

A Korean classic that comes in a fun and colorful packaging. Holika Holika Pig Nose Clear Blackhead 3-Step Kit is basically 3 different masks to open up the pores, removing blackheads and impurities, and then closing the pores. You get 3 nose masks in this package, some with a refreshing scent, some with no scent at all. Honestly, it’s pretty time consuming with 3 separate nose masks for the relatively modest effect you get on pores. But the idea is good. I think that these masks should have been bigger and covered more of the skin towards the cheeks. They do remove some blackheads, but far from all of them. Me and my sister both tested the Holika Holika Pig Nose Clear Blackhead 3-Step Kit, and it received 4/5 in our review here. Incredibly cheap nose strips any way because they only cost like 1 euro / pc. Fun and a great gift idea as well.

Tonymoly Egg Pore Nose Pack Package

Review Tonymoly Egg Pore Nose Pack Package nose strip from Korea blackheads sebum Korean skin care K-beauty Blog Europe

The cheapest out of all of these pore strips but the best one in my opinion. Tonymoly Egg Pore Nose Pack Package has a refreshing scent of lemon and menthol. Apply the mask on damp skin like a sticker. The nose strip stick to the skin immediately and can’t be moved. Make sure to place the mask correctly from the start. Allow it to dry and set for about 10-15 minutes. The Tonymoly Egg Pore Nose Pack Package is firmly attached to the skin and really pulls away a lot of dirt and blackheads. Apply the mask on properly soaked skin, and preferably open the pores before applying, for example with a hot steamy bath. The mask is very painful to remove but you do get results! Nothing for those sensitive to pain though. Incredibly cheap and affordable nose strip as a pack of 7 masks usually costs around 3-4 €, that’s about 0.5€ / mask. It covers only the nose though and not much more. See my results here. This nose strip is recommended by me.

Caolion Pore T-zone Strip

Review Caolion Pore T-zone Strip nose mask pore strip blackheads sebum Korean skin care K-beauty Blog Europe

OK I admit, it was a bit of a failure when I tried and tested this Korean pore strip and there will be no proper review unfortunately. Maybe you saw my mess in my insta stories a while back? Well, at first I applied the mask upside down. One tip is to read the instructions before starting. No scent really and this T-zone strip sticks well to the skin I feel. Make sure to open the pores properly before applying on really wet skin. Since I tried to remove the mask and turn it over at the beginning of the treatment, I unfortunately didn’t get the full potential out of this mask. But I still felt that it had stuck well to the skin when removing it. This nose strip targeting enlarged pores is generous in size and treating the entire T-zone including the cheeks. If you apply it the right way that is. The mask contains purifying and soothing Centella Asiatica and it’s preventing clogged pores and an overproduction of sebum. Sold at Sephora among other stores.

So called nose strips can be very painful to remove from the skin, and the result varies a whole lot between the masks.

Well. What do you think about nose strips any way guys? I doubt that the pain and the brutal treatment can be good for the skin in the long run. But if you do open up the pores before treatment then nose strips absolutely have potential I feel. Some work better than others of course. If you are curious to try a Korean nose strip then my personal favorite is Tonymoly Egg Pore Nose Pack Package. It’s incredibly cheap, only takes a few minutes and pulls out a lot of blackheads! See my results below (excuse my disgusting image).
