Today I’ll tell you more about 6 Korean lip balms that I’m using and testing right now. They are from brands Tonymoly, Laneige, Etude House and It’s Skin!
If there’s anything that really sets Korean products apart from the rest of the world, then it’s their super cute and fun packaging. Today I’m going to share 6 different Korean lip sleeping masks and lip balms that I’m using and testing right now. Some are more emollient and deeply moisturizing, while others are super cheap and affordable if you are on a budget, perfect to throw in your purse. I mean wow, how cute are all of these!
My Korean lip balms
Korean Lip Sleeping Masks
I’m curently using two products that are so called lip sleeping masks, Korean classic Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask which I have in “Berry” and Etude House Melting Chocolat Lip Sleeping mask. Lip sleeping masks are applied on the lips in the evening routine. Then let the lip mask work overnight. Lip sleeping masks are more intense than regular lip balms, providing deep care while you sleep.
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask is a cult classic by now, both in Korea and in Europe. Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask is the most expensive out of all these lip products but also the one that feels the most “premium”. It comes in a very nice packaging including a super cute little mini spatula. Costing about 11β¬ and still quite affordable in my opinion. This product is different from the other lip balms and feels more like a deeply nourishing lip mask, while the others are more similar to classic lip balms. I use Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask for the evening routine, but also during the day. I love how emollient and properly moisturized my lips feel and the product provides this lovely light pink shine to the lips. The lips look very healthy and youthful. The product is wonderfully creamy and soft inside the jar, and moisturizes the lips very well without feeling excessively oily or fatty. Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in “Berry” has this sweet scent of red berries and it’s absolutely wonderful. Although the product costs 11β¬ it’s still very affordable as it lasts for at least 6 months. The jar is a full 20gr. Highly recommended by me and one of my absolute favorites!
Etude House Melting Chocolat Lip Sleeping Mask comes in a nice sturdy glass jar and has the most delicious scent of white chocolate. Quite an oily and glossy texture in the jar but still in a solid form. The product pretty much looks like a classic lip balm. Somewhat more concentrated and sturdy than your every day lip balm I would say. The lips stay moisturized for a long time and I just love the amazing chocolate scent. I like to use Etude House Melting Chocolat Lip Sleeping Mask both at night and during the day. A premium quality lip balm if I were to describe this product. Etude House Melting Chocolat Lip Sleeping Mask lasts for several months and the product costs about 9β¬ / 15gr.
All of these Korean lip balms are pretty much translucent and made for moisturizing, nourishing and softening dry flaky lips.
Classic Korean Lip Balms
Moving on to It’s Skin Macaron Lip Balm, Tonymoly Bbo Bbo Lip Balm and Tonymoly Magic Food Mini Lip Balm in Banana and Peach. All of these are more traditional classic lip balms that come in incredibly cute and fun packaging. How about lips in pink chrome, fruits and pastries. I love it, looks so jummy!
Tonymoly Magic Food Mini Lip Balm Banana is the fattest most lubricating lip balm out of all of these lip balms. And the little cute banana is a squeeze tube for handy and smooth application. The product is firm and concentrated. The lips feel super emollient, fatty and properly smeared after application, in a good way! I just love the sweet banana scent and the packaging is totally irresistible. 7gr costs 6β¬ and I would have liked a larger amount of product inside the tube, although the price is very cheap. This balm is definitely the fattest of them all and it will probably run out the fastest too. Not a high-end balm, but the Tonymoly Magic Food Mini Lip Balm Banana does the job and it’s easy to carry in your pocket. Plus for not having to use dirty fingers inside the product. Also, I love the fatty feeling on my lips.
Tonymoly Magic Food Mini Lip Balm Peach looks like the cutest little mini peach. The product comes in this plastic packaging with a screw cap, nothing weird there. Pretty solid firm texture inside the jar and the product becomes incredibly glossy and shiny as soon as you stick your finger into it. A slightly more firm and “thin” glossy lip balm that applies easily on the lips. It’s softening and lubricating providing nice moisturization. Some kind of mild sweet peachy scent. I like that this balm is pretty firm and solid inside the jar, as these types of balms can sometimes become too soft and messy. This one doesn’t. No high-end product, but it works nicely for everyday use, and it’s very cute indeed. I like to carry this one with me in my purse. If you want a handy and slightly more firm, “thin” and glossy lip balm that’s not as soft and messy, then this one works very well. Tonymoly Magic Food Mini Lip Balm Peach costs about 5β¬ and contains 7.2gr product which will last you a long time.
The Tonymoly Bbo Bbo Lip Balm clearly has the most startling packaging out of the bunch. How about these luscious lips in bright pink chrome. The packaging is completely irresistible and I love having this lip balm in my purse. Especially on Friday nights when I’m out and about with my girls. I have Tonymoly Bbo Bbo Lip Balm in Blueberry but I can’t really say that the scent is 100% blueberries. More of an artificial sweet and fruity scent towards blueberries and maybe cherries, although the scent is still OK. Tonymoly Bbo Bbo Lip Balm feels softer and more “bouncy” inside the jar than many other lip balms. A somewhat creamier fattier texture more similar to vaseline or solid rich honey. The product is wonderfully creamy and lubricating. I really like the feel on my lips at application as the lips are properly smeared and fatty, softened and super kissable. I don’t really know if there’s a difference between the Tonymoly Bbo Bbo Lip Balm and their Kiss Kiss lip balm in similar packaging? But 7.2gr of product costs from about 5β¬. Super affordable although you will go through a jar pretty quickly. I still like this one and the packaging is super cute indeed!
It’s Skin Macaron Lip Balm comes in the cutest little macaron packaging and it’s available in several different kinds and colors. I have It’s Skin Macaron Lip Balm in #3 grape which has the most wonderful sweet scent of grapes. I would probably say that It’s Skin Macaron Lip Balm is the most moderate and traditional lip balm in the bunch. Just as one would expect a classic lip balm to be. It’s solid yet soft, creamy, a little bit fatty and just the right amount of lubricating. I like to carry It’s Skin Macaron Lip Balm with me in my everyday purse and I use it as soon as my lips feel dry and flaky. The product lasts for pretty long and works well without a fuss. 9gr of product costs about 5β¬ and this one’s really nice in my opinion. If you love macarons then you’ll love this lip balm, it’s too cute!
I just love opening up a new Korean lip balm. You know that wonderful feeling when using a product for the very first time!
